The Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge

This Challenge seeks to inspire and support creative, diverse, and multidisciplinary teams to create game-changing innovations that will help transform the food system. Competitive grants and prizes will be awarded for innovations targeting the white space where three domains intersect: safe and nutritious food; sustainably produced; and accessible, appealing, affordable, and trusted. The domains reside within a food policy framework where innovations can either be implemented within future, or existing policy.

Since 2021, we have received over 5000 submissions from teams of innovators, entrepreneurs, academic and research institutions, and non-profits, each focusing on high impact innovations to transform the food system.

The Seeding The Future Annual Global Food System Challenge aims to inspire game- changing and impactful innovations that focus on the “Innovation White Space” where three domains intersect:

  1. Safe and nutritious food for a healthy diet.

  2. Sustainable and regenerative practices that enable food system to stay within planetary boundaries.

  3. Equitable access to food that is affordable, appealing, and trusted.


These domains reside within a Food Policy Framework where innovations can be
implemented either within an existing or new policy framework.
